Yours Truly has a video up at the moment that has the magic ability to just make you feel happy. I’m talking straight up David Copperfield here, folks. It’s a collaboration between the front men of Vetiver and Fruit Bats and is called “I Must Be In A Good Place Now” which, for all of you music historians, is a cover of an oooold Bobby Charles tune. I’m totally loving this song and video – if I didn’t I wouldn’t be sharing it with all of you (I’m a nice guy like that). Listen to the lyrics closely and it’ll show you exactly why life is awesome. They hit you with lyrics like, “Sunshine coming through the rainbow colored sky / Paints pretty pictures in my mind” and “Catch the sunset in the hills / Dream of my yesterdays and tomorrows / And hope you’ll be with me still.” I sit here, listen to them singing, and just eat up every word. The scenery for the video is amazing, too. The sitting-on -the-front-porch vibe, the ripples moving across a random pond, birds gliding past the white puffy clouds – I almost can’t take how damn relaxed and happy this makes me. If you listen closely, you’ll hear birds chirping in the background. Nature’s own music backing up a song about how great nature is (can’t help but love the full-circle touch). And with Andy Cabic and Eric D. Johnson teaming up for this song specifically, they completely nail it. If Bobby Charles could hear his song played by these two, I know for a fact that he’d shed a tear of gratitude. My hope is that these two gents team up for some more in the future.
