Nathaniel Rateliff
This guy is legit. I just got my hands on his album In Memory of Loss the other day and so far I’ve been pretty in awe of it. My friend Barrett looked me in the eyes and said “Dude, you have to listen to this guy.” He’s dead on, steady freddy all the time with his music recommendations, so I knew I was in store for something good. I know absolutely squat about this dude other than he probably used to be in some other band and I’ve seen him listed as Nathaniel Rateliff & The Wheel sometimes. Great voice and songwriting – a nice mixture of of Justin Vernon of Bon Iver, Glen Hansard (that guy from “Once”, The Swell Seasons, and The Frames) and Bill Callahan of Smog. Check out this video of a song called Shroud.

For you Pittsburghers, he’s actually playing The Three River’s Arts Festival as I write this (Johnny-Come-Lately, huh?). Leave a comment if you saw him and tell us how he was. Thanks Barrett!
